Mission Arlington® ministries “heat up” during the hot weather typical of a Texas summer. The summer time here is very active, and a lot of fun. Here are a few of the ministries which happen in the months of summer.
Back to School Rally
On a Friday night, as the new school year looms on the horizon for our community’s students, Mission Arlington® rallies students in the 7th through 12th grade who attend or participate in one of our Bible studies/congregations. More than 200 youth participate in this rally each year. The goal is to remind the students that they are not alone, and that they have the support and prayers of many people as they leave summer for the hard work of school in the fall.
Every summer, Mission Arlington® sponsors seven (7) free camps during the month of July. These camps are organized into three age-group categories:
- Younger children: (Kindergarten – 3rd grade) – Tuesday evenings in July;
- Children: (4th – 6th graders) -from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – two Saturdays in July;
- Youth – (for 7th – 12th graders) – two Saturdays in July.
These camps are designed to support the children & youth who attend Mission Arlington® Bible studies. We are grateful to our partnerships which support the camps. To discover the dates and times, click here.
Summer programs are designed for children and youth whose parents are at work, giving them both a place to be and someone fun to be with. These programs include games, singing, crafts, Bible stories, and food, plus a lot of love for the children and youth who attend. Length of these programs vary depending on the need of each community, but generally they happen over a couple of hours for two or three days each week in the summer.
Living in North Texas, we all know that the heat can be unbearable. If you are struggling financially, and your AC goes out, it becomes that much more difficult. We are pleased to provide electric fans throughout the summer to people without AC in our community. Please contact us at 817-277-6620 if you or someone you know needs help.
Because many children & youth from low-income families depend upon free lunch programs throughout the school year, Mission Arlington® assists children and youth with free lunches in a few locations across our community. Because others in our community are doing such a good job with this work, we focus our efforts in areas where coverage isn’t adequate. We are especially grateful for our partners, and for each of you who pray, provide, and help.
Rainbow Express is Mission Arlington’s version of a back-yard Bible club using crafts, snacks, games, puppets, songs, and Bible stories to share God’s love with the children and youth of our community. Click here to discover our curriculum, including tips for teams wanting to lead these events here or back home. Contact us if you are interested in bringing your team to help.
Mission Arlington® hosts revival services across our community each summer. Designed as times of spiritual renewal for believers and an invitation for others to consider and/or to begin a new spiritual journey, these two-three day series of preaching & special music are energizing for many.
Prior to each service, congregations prepare and serve a meal. During the services, children enjoy a special Rainbow Express experience designed for them. You can find dates and times for these services in the July-August section of our online calendar.
We collect, organize, and distribute school supplies to students attending school in the Arlington Independent school District. Parents may sign up their students through the front room of Mission Arlington, or call us at 817-277-6620 for more information.
