Summers

The ministries of Mission Arlington® “heat up” during the hot weather typical of a Texas summer. In addition to our weekly Bible studies, emergency assistance programs, health clinics, and other year-round work, we also have services which are designed specifically for the summer months:

Camps for Children & Youth

Every summer, Mission Arlington® sponsors 6 free camps  during the month of July. These camps are organized into three age-group categories:

  • Younger children: (Kindergarten – 3rd grade) – from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings in July;
  • Children: (4th – 6th graders) -from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – two Saturdays in July;
  • Youth – (for 7th – 12th graders) –  from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – two Saturdays in July.

To discover the dates and times for this year’s camps, give us a call at 817-277-6620.

Fans

We lend donated fans to families in our community who, for a variety of reasons, don’t have access to an air-conditioned home.  We work with our local police and fire departments, hospitals, educators, and others who let us know of the need. We are grateful for the privilege of keeping families safe and out of the heat wherever we can.

Lunch Programs

Because many children & youth from low-income families depend upon free lunch programs throughout the school year, Mission Arlington® assists children and youth with free lunches in a few locations across our community through the summer.

Rainbow Express®

Rainbow Express is Mission Arlington’s version of a back-yard Bible club using crafts, snacks, games, puppets, songs, and Bible stories to share God’s love with the children and youth of our community.  Click here to discover our curriculum, including tips for teams wanting to lead these events here or back home.

Revivals

Mission Arlington® hosts revival services across our community each summer. Designed as times of spiritual renewal for believers and an invitation for others to consider and/or to begin a new spiritual journey, these two-three day series of preaching & special music are energizing for many.

School supplies

We collect, organize, and distribute school supplies each summer to more than 10,000  students attending school in the Arlington Independent school District. Parents may sign up their students through the front room of Mission Arlington, or call us at 817-277-6620 for more information.  If you are interested in collecting, organizing, and/or distributing the supplies, click here for more information.

Summer Programs

Summer programs are designed as a kind of “Day Camp” for children and youth whose parents are at work, giving the students both a place to be, someone fun to be with, and something constructive to do. These programs include games, singing, crafts, Bible stories, and food, plus a lot of love for the children and youth who attend. The length of these programs vary depending on the need of each community, but generally they happen over a couple of hours for two or three days each week through the summer.

Youth Rally

On a Friday night, as the new school year draws near, 7th through 12th graders join us in a “back to school” rally.   200+ youth participate in this rally each year.  Our goal is to help students to remember their identity in Christ, and to know that they are not alone as they start the new year.

We are so appreciative of the extra help and support so many provide during the summer months. We are grateful for the wonderfully generous community which surrounds us. Please come join us.
