The Lord's Prayer (Summer 2016)
Many of us have memorized the Lord’s Prayer and pray it directly to God. It is also a model that teaches us how to pray. Join us on a walk through the Lord’s Prayer in seven lessons.
Lord’s Prayer – Lesson 1
Lesson 1: “When you Pray.”
Focus Verses: Matthew 6: 5-8
Memory Verse: Romans 12:12 – “Be faithful in prayer.”
Lesson Goals:
- to memorize the Lord’s Prayer;
- to teach the meaning of the Lord’s Prayer, and
- to encourage students to put the Prayer into practice.
Scripture to Study
- Matthew 6:5-8 (as background);
- Luke 18: 1-14;
- Mark 12:40
- 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Lord’s Prayer – Lesson 2
Lesson 2: “Pray Like This.”
Focus Verses: Matthew 6:9-13
Memory Verse: Colossians 4:2 (ERV): “Never stop praying.”
Lesson Goals:
- Memorize the Lord’s Prayer;
- Teach the meaning of the Lord’s Prayer;
- Encourage students to put into practice what they have learned from the Lord’s Prayer.

Lesson 3: “Is God Your Father?”
Focus Verse: Matthew 6:9b
Memory Verse: 1 Chronicles 5:20 “God answered their prayers because they trusted Him.”

- Teach the meaning of the Lord’s Prayer;

Lesson 4: “Obeying God.”

Memory Verse: Revelation 22:12. “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.”

Lesson 5: “Our Basic Needs.”
Focus Verse: Matthew 6:10.
Memory Verse: Matthew 6:33 “What you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what he wants you to do. Then he will give you all these other things you need.”
